For the Roark family, a passion for barbecue spans five generations and counting. Beginning way back when Garry’s grandparents created an amazing barbecue sauce that passed through the family – eventually down to Garry’s father, Ubon Roark, and Garry himself. Ubon sparked the Roark family tradition, but Garry took it past a weekend ritual and made it his life’s work to share this incredible ’cue with people all over. In 1989, Garry participated in his first competition, and he continues to compete today alongside his daughter, Leslie Roark Scott. Garry and Leslie together own Ubon’s Restaurant in Yazoo City, MS. Garry, Leslie and Garry’s grandson, Jacob Roark Scott, are always present in the restaurant and at barbecue competitions and festivals around the country, and have appeared on television repeatedly, including Food Network, Destination America and Travel Channel.
